Археологи буквально уничтожают историю.
Любые раскопки необратимы: снятый культурный слой уже невозможно положить обратно именно таким, каким он пролежал сотни или тысячи лет. Радиоуглеродный анализ уничтожает часть образца, ДНК приходится извлекать из древних останков, а целые памятники исчезают по мере их изучения.
