HANTAVIRUS: „Er ist stabil, aber nicht ansprechbar!“ Behörden beobachten schweren Fall genau!Ein südafrikanischer Patient mit einer schweren Hantavirus-Infektion wird derzeit in Johannesburg intensivmedizinisch behandelt. Laut Afrika-Korrespondent Christian Putsch ist der Mann zwar stabil, aber weiterhin nicht ansprechbar. Die südafrikanischen Behörden beobachten den Fall mit großer Sorge, betonen jedoch zugleich, dass das Land auf schwere Atemwegserkrankungen vorbereitet sei. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit galt zuletzt einer Stewardess, die den Patienten während eines Fluges betreut hatte. Ein zunächst diskutierter Verdachtsfall bestätigte sich nach Angaben von Virologen offenbar nicht. Die Behörden bleiben dennoch wachsam – auch wegen der hohen Sterblichkeitsrate des Hantavirus.
