White House latest: Venezuela, Cuba, Trump economic speech, Smithsonian Portrait Gallery

AP political reporter Will Weissert is speaking with LiveNOW’s Shawna Khalafi about top headlines coming from the White House this week. This includes the news that the Senate recently advanced a resolution that would limit President Donald Trump’s ability to launch additional strikes against Venezuela. We are also learning more after comments by Trump officials indicated that military action wasn’t off the table to capture Greenland, the resource-rich Arctic territory where the U.S. already has a military base.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a close Trump ally who recently traveled with the president aboard Air Force One, said he would be comfortable with Trump taking over other countries without congressional approval, including Greenland.

We are also hearing that President Trump said that he plans to meet with Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado in Washington this week. Trump was asked if he intends to meet with Machado after the U.S. struck Venezuela and captured its former president, Nicolás Maduro, during an appearance on Fox News' "Hannity."

According to the Associated Press, President Trump's photo portrait display at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery has had references to his impeachments removed.
