هل ترك حافظ الأسد سوريا بلا ديون؟
في هذه الحلقة من برنامج الجهبذ مع بشر النجار، نحقق في واحدة من أكثر الروايات انتشاراً عن عهد حافظ الأسد: هل فعلاً ترك سوريا بلا ديون؟منذ وصول حافظ الأسد إلى السلطة عام 1970، بدأت أرقام الدين الخارجي السوري بالارتفاع، فيما اعتمدت دمشق على التمويل الخارجي والسلاح والمساعدات والمنح العربية لتمويل جزء كبير من إنفاقها. وبحلول منتصف التسعينيات، كان الدين العام الخارجي السوري يُقدّر بحوالي 18 مليار دولار، كان نحو ثلثيه ديوناً عسكرية.
لكن كيف تراكم هذا الدين؟ ومن أين جاءت الأموال التي اعتمد عليها النظام؟ ولماذا توقفت سوريا عن تسديد جزء من ديونها؟ وكيف تحوّل ملف الدين السوري إلى ورقة سياسية في علاقات دمشق مع فرنسا والغرب وروسيا؟
نتتبع رحلة الديون السورية من حافظ الأسد إلى بشار الأسد، وصولاً إلى تسوية الدين مع روسيا عام 2005، ونفكك الفرق بين شطب الدين وبين دخول الأموال إلى خزينة الدولة.
