Er hatte im EM-Spiel gegen Österreich den sogenannten Wolfsgruß gezeigt, das Symbol einer rechtsextremen türkischen Organisation. In Deutschland ist der Gruß offiziell nicht verboten. Die Grauen Wölfe werden aber vom Verfassungsschutz beobachtet.
