Sudan war: Khartoum receives influx of Kordofan families fleeing RSF violence
Displaced civilians from Sudan's Kordofan region have arrived in Khartoum after enduring gruelling journeys in search of safety.More than 500 families have fled intensifying clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, has been under RSF siege for over a year, causing severe shortages.
Families from towns such as Bara in North Kordofan have also faced violence as the RSF consolidates control, forcing residents out.
Aid centres in Khartoum, including schools like one in Omdurman, are providing assistance, but resources remain scarce.
Many of the displaced rely on humanitarian support and are living in precarious conditions.
Women and children make up most of those seeking refuge, with reports of men being detained or killed by the RSF during their escape.
Famine is confirmed in parts of Kordofan, raising fears of worsening conditions.
Despite the challenges, more civilians are expected to make the perilous journey in the coming days.
