Reports say New Delhi is weighing countermeasures on select US commodities and has prepared legal grounds under WTO rules after Washington rejected a consultation request. The reported plan follows Trump's escalation of tariffs on Indian goods from 25% to 50% , which India has called “unjustified” and “unreasonable.” India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a veiled jibe at US tariffs on Sunday (August 10), saying some are unhappy with India's growth, while adding that India's progress is unstoppable.---
