Arlan menyebut, masalah ini bermula saat sang anak kehujanan karena mobil yang menjemputnya dilarang masuk ke dalam sekolah.
Hal ini disampaikan Arlan di Inspektorat Jenderal Kementerian Dalam Negeri RI, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (18/9/2025).
Tak hanya mengakui kesalahan, Arlan juga memohon maaf atas tindakannya kepada masyarakat.
"Pertama-tama saya mengucapkan permohonan maaf kepada seluruh masyarakat Indonesia, dan terkhusus masyarakat Prabumulih yang mana telah saya mengakui kesalahan saya atas kejadian ini," kata Arlan, Kamis.
Ia juga meminta maaf kepada Kepsek Roni yang sempat diancam dicopot dari jabatannya.
Arlan menyebut, peristiwa ini menjadi pembelajaran bagi dirinya tentang kontrol diri yang baik.
"Dan saya mengucapkan permohonan maaf kepada Bapak Roni, Kepala Sekolah SMP Negeri 1. Yang mana atas kesalahan saya, saya sudah menyadari," tutur dia.
Walkot Prabumulih ini lantas menceritakan kronologi yang membuat dirinya tak bisa mengontrol diri.
Insiden ini bermula pada (5/9/2025) saat sang anak sedang berlatih drum band di lokasi yang berjarak 150 meter dari sekolahnya.
Namun, karena hujan, anak Arlan ditelepon seorang guru dan diminta untuk kembali ke sekolah.
Setibanya di sekolah, mobil jemputan anak Arlan tidak diizinkan masuk.
Sehingga, anak Arlan harus turun dari mobil dan kehujanan menuju gedung sekolah.
Atas tindakannya, Kemendagri memberikan sanksi teguran tertulis kepada Arlan.
Pasalnya, dirinya telah melakukan mutasi kepala sekolah tanpa prosedur yang sesuai dengan undang-undang.
