Die europäischen Staats- und Regierungschefs trafen sich in Zypern zu ihrem ersten EU-Gipfel ohne Ungarns Viktor Orbán – ein Moment, den viele als Neuanfang bezeichneten. Da Ungarn Entscheidungen nun nicht mehr blockiert, genehmigten die Mitgliedstaaten nach monatelanger Verzögerung einen Kredit in Höhe von 90 Milliarden Euro für die Ukraine. Der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj nahm an den Gesprächen teil, während die EU Pläne zur Beschleunigung der Beitrittsverhandlungen andeutete. Dennoch blieb der Gipfel eine Krisensitzung, konstatiert die Brüsseler DW-Studioleiterin Katharina Kroll.Kapitel:
