South Korea: Samsung Workers Union Calls For Strike Over Better Pay | Subscribe to FirstpostThe workers of Samsung Electronics in South Korea have called for a three-day strike starting from July 8. The National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) has announced a “no pay, no work” general strike, following disputes over better pay and benefits. The union is angry over Samsung’s 5.1% pay hike offer this year. The workers seek improved annual leave and transparent performance-based bonuses. The NSEU and Samsung's management have been negotiating since January. Earlier, the workers staged a one-day walkout in June. The NSEU represents around 28,000 employees, over a fifth of the firm's workforce. Samsung is one of the world's biggest producers of memory chips and the largest smartphone makers.
