China's Z.ai has unveiled GLM-5.3, an AI model designed to write and analyse code and identify software vulnerabilities. The company says it can also test whether discovered weaknesses can be exploited. Z.ai reported an 84.5% score on one cybersecurity test, compared with 83.8% for Anthropic's Mythos, while Mythos scored higher on another test involving exploitation. The results have not been independently verified. The development comes amid an intensifying US-China technology rivalry, including competing AI frameworks and supply-chain initiatives.
