Russia-Ukraine War: Russians Withdraw Billions Amid Fears Putin Could Seize Cash | Vantage | 4K
Russians are pulling billions of dollars from banks as concerns grow over the economy and the Kremlin’s ability to finance the war in Ukraine. Nearly $3.4 billion was withdrawn in the first two weeks of August, following $11.8 billion in June and July. Another $9.4 billion left Russia in the second quarter of 2026, adding pressure on banks, businesses and government finances.Meanwhile, China’s youth unemployment rate rose to 17.9% in July, its highest level in 11 months. The surge comes as a record 12.7 million university graduates enter an already crowded job market, while weak domestic demand and slowing growth weigh on hiring. China’s broader urban unemployment rate also rose to 5.2%.
