«Questa mattina, prima che la città si svegliasse, prima che qualcuno potesse vedere, documentare, protestare, le macchine erano già al lavoro. Un'efficienza degna di miglior causa. L'ultimo grande bosco golenale dell'intera Valle Isarco, con alberi alti fino a 40 metri,
tronchi fino a 4,5 metri di circonferenza e un'età che raggiunge i 100 anni, stava già cadendo sotto le lame». Comincia così il durissimo comunicato del Wwf in merito all'abbattimento, venerdì mattina, del bosco ripariale di Bressanone, in Alto Adige. Gli ambientalisti protestano per due motivi: la distruzione di un habitat che tutelava uccelli nidificanti, pipistrelli e rettili protetti; la destinazione dell'area, dove sorgeranno parcheggi e capannoni industriali. L'area era stata venduta dalla Diocesi per 9 milioni di euro: «Una parte preziosa di Bressanone è questa mattina scomparsa per sempre.
