El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, afirmó que la mayoría de los aliados de la OTAN (Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte) han comunicado a Washington que no participarán en la operación militar en Irán. Durante una rueda de prensa en el Despacho Oval el martes, Trump calificó la decisión como un “grave error”. Señaló que el bloque respalda las acciones de Estados Unidos e Israel, pero que no está dispuesto a implicarse directamente. El mandatario estadounidense añadió que no planea tomar represalias contra los aliados de la OTAN, aunque los instó a colaborar en la seguridad del estrecho de Ormuz, donde el tráfico marítimo se ha visto afectado.
