«Non si tratta di un docu-film, ma di una ricostruzione dettagliata - grazie all'uso di materiale storico e d'archivio - di una vicenda per molti anni rimasta nascosta», così il re degli Ottomila, Reinhold Messner, in occasione della prima altoatesina a Bolzano del suo ultimo film, «K2 - La Grande Controversia», un progetto pensato per il grande schermo che racconta la famosa spedizione italiana sul K2 del 1954. «Il racconto non ripercorre soltanto la vicenda in sé, ma si sofferma anche - e soprattutto - sugli aspetti psicologici che hanno accompagnato i suoi protagonisti». Al centro la figura chiave di Walter Bonatti: «La sua eredità è fatta di valori che ci accompagneranno per i prossimo 150 anni; Bonatti ha dato la base filosofica dell'approccio alle grandi imprese dell'alpinismo, allacciandosi ai pionieri prima di lui», conclude Messner.
