A massive fire engulfed large parts of Oita city in southwestern Japan, destroying more than 170 homes and forcing around 175 residents to evacuate. The blaze began on Tuesday evening during strong winds near a fishing port and quickly spread into nearby forested and residential areas. Fire engines, over 200 firefighters, and army helicopters battled the flames as thick smoke blanketed the town. A man in his 70s remained unaccounted for, and nearly 270 households were left without electricity. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi offered support while officials confirmed the cause was under investigation and the fire was still not contained.---
