Ukraine feiert Unabhängigkeitstag: Selenskyj gedenkt der gefallenen KriegsheldenEin stiller Moment am ukrainischen Unabhängigkeitstag: Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj und First Lady Olena Selenska legen Blumen an der Gedenkwand für gefallene Soldaten in Kyjiw nieder. Tausende Fotos erinnern dort an Ukrainer, die seit Beginn des Krieges im Jahr 2014 ihr Leben verloren haben. Der 24. August ist für die Ukraine ein besonderer Tag: Das Land erinnert an seine 1991 erklärte Unabhängigkeit von der damaligen Sowjetunion. Die Gedenkwand nahe dem St.-Michaels-Kloster steht für den hohen Preis des Krieges.
