Absolum - Full Game Clear, No Deaths (Brome)

Absolum is a brand new beat 'em up from DotEmu, Guard Crush, and Supamonks - the studios that brought us the incredible Streets of Rage 4 back in 2020. It's not easy following one of the all time great games, but I'm happy to say they've created a worthy successor! ...Although it is quite a bit different.

I posted more extensive thoughts on the game in my first video with Garland, which you can read here if you're interested: https://youtu.be/CYXl1TKQTN8

This time, I'm using Brome. He's the magic user in this game, but his play style isn't too different from the other characters. He's still strong at close range with his melee attacks and upgraded throw (it does a ton of damage), and he has some powerful spells you can use as support or combo extenders. His super can be incredibly good too, especially if you combine it with some of his spells. I don't know if it triples your firepower exactly, but jumping into a boss and hitting him with 12 tornadoes at the same time does a massive amount of damage.

You can also upgrade your running heavy attack and turn it into a drill, which to me, is practically essentially. It's insanely strong, especially if you can tie a lightning or wind attack to it. It seems like each hit of the drill attack builds up your static/tornado, so you can hit any tanky enemy with the drill and it'll probably trigger your buff in one attack. You can probably easily beat everything just from spamming that over and over, that's how good it is.

And with that, I've cleared this with every character in the game! I've enjoyed it a lot, but I'm hoping they'll update this with more "endgame" challenge modifiers and stuff just to keep it interesting. I still don't have 100% completion, so maybe there's still some more stuff to discover? I'll wrap that up, but for now I'll probably try to finish one more game before Ninja Gaiden 4 comes out.

One note about this video: it says "no deaths", but you HAVE to die in order to fight Absolum. So it's more like, no *unnecessary* deaths... (Using invincibility to avoid Absolum's instant-death attack prevents him from spawning, and locks the game up, by the way.)

Absolum is available now on Steam, Switch, and PlayStation 4/5. If you're going to play on PC, I'd appreciate it you'd use my affiliate link to buy from Fanatical, which has it on sale for $19.99 (20% off) right now: https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/absolum?ref=ngnhyzk
