Feuer in Hürtgenwald: Größter Brand in der Geschichte NRWs
Der Waldbrand im Hürtgenwald ist nach Einschätzung der Landesregierung der größte in der Geschichte von Nordrhein-Westfalen. Der Ortsteil Hürtgenwald-Gey musste evakuiert werden.Die Feuerwehren in NRW sind im Dauereinsatz. Mindestens 200 Hektar Wald sind, laut Landwirtschaftsministerium, betroffen. Wie sich das Feuer in der Nacht entwickeln wird, ist noch unklar. „Das Problem ist, dass Windböen von bis zu 40 km/h erwartet werden und das ist natürlich ein Riesenproblem für die Rettungskräfte, vor allem, weil die Löschhubschrauber heute Nacht fehlen und dieser Wind das Feuer wieder anfachen kann“, sagt Reporter Jens Eberl, der die Situation vor Ort beobachtet.
Auch in anderen Teilen von NRW gibt es die Sorge, dass Feuer ausbrechen könnten. Schon seit Wochen ist die Waldbrandgefahr laut DWD fast in allen Regionen hoch. Die Landesregierung NRW mahnt: Brandverursacher seien fast immer Menschen und sie appelliert an die Bevölkerung, nicht mehr in die Wälder zu gehen. Nicht nur da, wo es brennt, sondern generell soll die Bevölkerung aktuell die Wälder meiden.
