Kedatangan mereka untuk mendukung Kapolda Sumbar Irjen Pol Suharyono dalam mengusut kasus kematian Afif Maulana.
Sekelompok massa tersebut mengatasnamakan diri mereka sebagai Menyala Institute.
Selain mendukung pengusutan kasus kematian Afif, mereka juga menuntut agar oknum yang mempolitisasi isu dipenjara.
Massa yakin Kapolda Sumbar tak lari dari kasus ini, bahkan beberapa waktu lalu menemui para pendemo.
"Kami yakin Kapolda bisa mengungkap dengan baik. Beliau tidak lari sama sekali, bahkan dengan gagah berani menemui massa aksi," kata massa, dikutip dari TribunPadang.com, Sabtu (29/6/2024).
Mereka justru merasa ironi ketika ada masyarakat yang berbuat onar seperti tawuran lalu bertanya kemana polisi.
Namun, ketika polisi hadir justru mendapat hujatan hingga tuduhan liar.
Aksi damai mendukung Kapolda ini mendapat apresiasi dari Kabid Humas Polda Sumbar Kombes Pol Dwi Sulistyawan.
Ia menyebut, polisi sudah bertemu dengan Kompolnas, KPAI, dan pihak-pihak terkait soal kematian Afif.
Hasilnya, diduga kuat korban meninggal karena loncat dari jembatan bukan dianiaya polisi.
Namun, Dwi tak menampik ada 17 anggotanya yang diduga melanggar saat mengamankan tawuran.
Ia pun berjanji akan menindak tegas anggota tersebut sesuai arahan kapolda.
