You’re Ruining Your Bowstring (Without Realizing It)
Most archers maintain their bowstrings the same way… but the way many people apply wax and burnish their strings can actually damage the fibers and shorten the life of the string.In this video I explain a simple rule that dramatically improves bowstring longevity: Burnish the string in ONE direction and always keep doing it that same way.
Modern bowstrings are made from bundles of synthetic fibers. When you rub wax back and forth you repeatedly bend and lift those tiny fibers, which can create micro-abrasion and cause the string to wear out faster.
I demonstrate the common mistake most archers make and show the correct way to burnish a bowstring so the fibers stay aligned and protected. This simple change can help your strings last longer and stay more consistent over time.
