Ukraine-Krieg: Trump will mit Selenskyj über Friedensabkommen sprechen

Erst das Gespräch mit Putin in Alaska, jetzt ein Treffen mit dem ukrainischen Präsidenten Selenskyj und anderen europäischen Spitzenpolitikern: US-Präsident Donald Trump will ein Friedensabkommen für die Ukraine aushandeln. Dabei geht er nun deutlich auf Distanz zu Kiew. So schrieb Trump auf seiner Plattform Truth Social: „Der ukrainische Präsident Selenskyj kann den Krieg mit Russland fast sofort beenden, wenn er will, oder er kann weiterkämpfen.“

Präsident Selenskyj und europäische Spitzenpolitiker:innen, darunter Bundeskanzler Merz, sind für das Gespräch mit Trump in die USA gereist. Ein zentrales Thema wird die Haltung gegenüber russischen Gebietsansprüchen sein. Russland besteht darauf, dass die Ukraine Gebietsverluste anerkennt und fordert angeblich auch den gesamten Donbass. Selenskyj lehnte das kategorisch ab.
