Sheikh Hasina's death sentence: How politically motivated is it? | DW News
A court in Bangladesh has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death, for her role in the killing of 14,000 people during last years anti-government uprising. Hasina lives in exile in India and was tried in absentia. The guilty verdict was delivered at the end of a months long trial, with the lead prosecutor saying the former prime minister had soaked her feet with the blood of young students.Taqbir Huda is a human rights lawyer and expert on South Asia’s legal and political challenges. DW asked him if he thought the Hasina death sentence was legally justified or politically motivated?
