Con la pandemia che mordeva, e la spinta al voto postale, il Presidente Donald Trump aveva iniziato ben prima del voto ad accusare apertamente la possibilità di brogli elettorali. Dopo il voto poi, Trump sembrava non volere accettare il risultato elettorale, che vedeva Joe Biden vincitore. I fatti sono poi precipitati il 6 gennaio 2021, con l'assalto a Capitol Hill.
