En julio de 2025, la inflación al consumidor en China fue del 0.0% anual, o sea, unos precios totalmente estancados. Esto encendió las alarmas, porque un crecimiento de precios del 0% sugiere que el fenómeno de la deflación está a punto de llegar a China. Y frente a esta situación, Pekín ha respondido con una medida polémica: subsidios estatales a los préstamos de consumo.En concreto, la idea es que quienes obtengan un préstamo, recibirán una rebaja de un punto porcentual en la tasa de interés anual de sus préstamos de consumo. De modo que, si un préstamo tiene una tasa del 5%, el consumidor terminará pagando solo un 4%, mientras que el gobierno subvenciona el resto. La meta del gobierno es abaratar el crédito al consumo para estimular el gasto de los hogares, recuperar la economía más rápidamente y evitar una deflación o una caída general de los precios. Pero ¿por qué China le teme tanto a la deflación?
