Americans Have Turned Against AI

AI is spreading through American life faster than almost any technology before it. But the more people are forced to use it, the less they seem to trust it. Americans have turned against AI even as ChatGPT, AI search results, workplace tools, and automated systems become nearly impossible to avoid.

This video explores why public confidence in artificial intelligence is collapsing, especially among younger Americans who use it the most. Entry-level jobs are disappearing, companies are replacing contractors and junior workers, and some businesses are learning the hard way that AI-generated work still comes with serious quality problems.
But jobs are only part of the backlash. Massive data centers are consuming extraordinary amounts of electricity and water, pushing up utility costs and triggering fights with communities from Virginia to Arizona. Meanwhile, artists, writers, and programmers continue questioning why their work was used to train these systems without permission.

Americans aren’t necessarily rejecting AI itself, they’re rejecting a future where they’re expected to pay the costs while having almost no say in how the technology reshapes their lives.
