Per motivi di lavoro passo almeno un paio di volte alla settimana accanto all'Arena di Santa Giulia e a un mese dalle prime partite dei tornei olimpici di hockey su ghiaccio, posso testimoniare che l'esterno del grande nuovo Palazzo dello Sport è ancora in fase di lavorazione e non propriamente ai dettagli. Ho un ricordo all'epoca esilarante ma a ben pensarci, istruttivo, della vigilia della prima partita dell'Italia ai Mondiali del 90, in un Olimpico ristrutturato di fresco. E la parola non è scelta a caso. Eravamo lì a seguire l'allenamento degli azzurri quando un collega, appoggiandosi a un muro della zona riservata alla stampa, cominciò a sacramentare perché la sua sgargiante giacca rossa s'era irrimediabilmente sporcata di vernice bianca.A ventiquattr'ore dal primo match c'erano settori dello stadio appena imbiancati e forse per evitare imbarazzi, non era stato apposto il solito avviso vernice fresca.
