RHEINMETALL: Europas größte Munitionsfabrik eröffnet! Aktivisten planen Protest am Wohnort des ChefsIn der Lüneburger Heide hat der Rüstungskonzern Rheinmetall eine neue Produktionsstätte eröffnet. Künftig sollen dort jährlich über 350.000 Schuss Artilleriemunition vom Kaliber 155 Millimeter hergestellt werden – ein zentraler Baustein für die europäische Verteidigung.
Die Eröffnung wurde zu einem regelrechten Rüstungsgipfel: Mit dabei waren Bundesverteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius, Finanzminister Lars Klingbeil und NATO-Generalsekretär Mark Rutte. Ein deutliches Signal, wie ernst die Bedrohung durch Russland genommen wird.
Doch die Eröffnung sorgt auch für Proteste. Unter dem Motto „Rheinmetall entwaffnen“ haben Aktivisten Protestcamps errichtet – unter anderem in Köln. Auch Rheinmetall-Chef Armin Papperger äußert sich kritisch zu Demonstrationen vor seinem privaten Wohnhaus.
