Gunung Rinjani ibarat beranda Indonesia dalam kegunungapian purba. Peringkatnya kedua di bawah Toba. Samalas, nama awal Rinjani, memantik rasa penasaran banyak penghuni bumi.CNN Indonesia ikut menjadi bagian masyarakat bumi yang menaruh perhatian pada biodiversitas dan sejarah Rinjani. Tidak salah, bagi penikmatnya, Rinjani gunung yang lengkap: hutan hujan tropis dataran rendah, subalpin dan sebagian besar savana. Kaldera Samalas, yang kini menjadi Danau Segara Anak, sanggup menggetarkan hati siapa pun yang melihatnya.
Awal Juni, CNN Indonesia menyambangi Rinjani. Naik lewat jalur Sembalun, turun menyusuri jalur Torean. Dari Sembalun kita dihadapkan langsung pada padang savana. Sementara turun menuju Dusun Torean, pemandangan tidak hanya padang rumput, tapi juga tebing curam yang jika dibayangkan sering disebut “Taman Jurassic”.
Tidak salah jika ada pepatah, jangan mati sebelum ke Rinjani. Pesonanya demikian gemilang. Takkan sanggup menahan hasrat pecandunya untuk datang lagi dan lagi.
