State Department now investigating Sec. Marco Rubio AI impersonator

Officials from the State Department are warning U.S. diplomats about a sophisticated impersonation scheme involving artificial intelligence. LiveNOW’s Andrew Craft is getting the latest from Leah Siskind, who is FDD's director of impact and an artificial intelligence (AI) research fellow at FDD's Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation.

This comes after fake messages were sent through text messages, then encrypted using the messaging app Signal, and voice mail, and suggest a broader effort to deceive officials into believing they were communicating with Sec. Marco Rubio.

"The State Department is aware of this incident and is currently investigating the matter," a senior State Department official said in a statement to FOX Local. "The Department takes seriously its responsibility to safeguard its information and continuously takes steps to improve the department’s cybersecurity posture to prevent future incidents."
