Israel reopens Zikim crossing in northern Gaza to allow in humanitarian aid trucks
Israel's military says it's reopened a crossing into northern Gaza to allow in aid trucks.It's the first time the Zikim crossing has been opened since the ceasefire came into effect more than a month ago.
Aid convoys to Gaza have been facing major delays despite the promise of deliveries being made daily.
Under the truce between Hamas and Israel, a minimum of 600 trucks a day should be entering the Strip.
But on average, Israeli authorities are only allowing in 178, most of them commercial.
The UN says Israel is blocking vital items including syringes for vaccines as well as bottles for powdered baby milk.
Members of Hamas' armed wing, the Qassam brigades and the Red Cross are preparing to search for bodies of the remaining captives held in Gaza.
The joint operation will take place inside the so-called Yellow Line, that is under Israeli military control.
Hamas is yet to return the bodies of four more captives, as agreed under the first phase of the ceasefire deal.
