Argentina austerity protests grow as disabled, pensioners face cuts
Thousands protested in Buenos Aires against President Milei’s harsh austerity measures, which are slashing healthcare, pensions and disability support. While the government defends its zero-deficit plan as necessary to stabilise Argentina’s economy, critics say it’s abandoning society’s most vulnerable. The demonstrations came as Congress debated aid increases that Milei has threatened to veto. Pensioners and disabled citizens say the cuts have left them struggling to survive, with many losing savings and medical coverage.
