Hunderte Schiffe mit etwa 20.000 Seeleuten sitzen seit Beginn des Iran-Kriegs im Persischen Golf fest. Nun wollen die USA Frachtern dabei helfen, die blockierte Straße von Hormus zu durchqueren. 15.000 Soldat:innen und mehr als 100 Flugzeuge sowie Kriegsschiffe und Drohnen seien seit dem Morgen im Einsatz, teilte das US-Militär mit.„Handelsschiffe, die da durch fahren, müssen nach wie vor mit dem erheblichen Risiko leben, dass sie mit Drohnen, Marschflugkörpern, ballistischen Raketen, Drohnen auf dem Wasser und unter dem Wasser und Mienen umgehen müssen“, ordnet Moritz Brake, Experte für maritime Sicherheit Universität Bonn, das Vorhaben ein.
