LIVE: Did Ukraine Target Putin's Home? Bombshell Claim Threatens Talks |Vantage with Palki Sharma

A serious allegation from Moscow is raising fresh tensions in the Ukraine war and casting a shadow over ongoing peace efforts. Russia claims that Ukraine attempted to assassinate President Vladimir Putin by launching a large-scale drone attack on his residence. The allegation was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said that 91 drones were fired at what he described as Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, around 500 kilometres west of Moscow. According to Russia, the attack took place late on the night of December 28 into December 29, and all drones were intercepted by air defences. Moscow has provided no independent evidence to support the claim so far. Ukraine has categorically denied the accusation. President Volodymyr Zelensky called the allegation a fabrication, saying it was designed to justify further Russian attacks and to undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war. The timing of the claim has drawn attention. On the same day Russia says the drone attack occurred, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted President Zelensky in Miami, where both leaders spoke optimistically about the possibility of a peace deal. President Trump later confirmed that Vladimir Putin personally informed him of the alleged attack. Trump said he was unhappy about the incident, calling it a “delicate moment” for diplomacy. Other world leaders have urged restraint. Palki Sharma tells you more.
