L'amministratore delegato di Stretto di Messina S.p.A., Pietro Ciucci, interviene pubblicamente dopo l'apertura dell'inchiesta per corruzione che coinvolge tre persone, tra cui l'ex consigliere d'amministrazione Giacomo Saccomanno. Ospite a L'Aria che Tira, Ciucci ha dichiarato di essere rimasto sorpreso dalla vicenda, ribadendo che la società è completamente estranea ai fatti contestati.Secondo l'AD, Saccomanno non aveva deleghe operative né poteri di rappresentanza esterni al consiglio d'amministrazione.
