Die Zahl der Drogentoten in Deutschland steigt. Die suchtmedizinische Versorgung ist dagegen in Gefahr. Vor allem in der ländlichen Region wie in Niederbayern fehlt es an qualifizierten Ärzten, die Opiatabhängige behandeln können.Eduard Boniakowski ist Substitutionsarzt und versorgt rund 1.300 Opiatabhängige. Sieben Tage die Woche fährt er und sein Team fünf Praxen in Niederbayern ab, um die Suchtkranken auch auf dem Land zu versorgen. "BR24 vor Ort" hat den Suchtmediziner bei seiner alltäglichen Arbeit begleitet, über und mit unterschiedlichen Patienten gesprochen und erfahren, warum die Cannabisfreigabe die Arbeit in der Suchtmedizin erschwert.
