Trump's Treasury Chief Bessent Goes BLANK as Pressley Exposes His Dodge

Rep. Ayanna Pressley asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent how long Trump said the Iran war would last. His answer: 'I don't recall.'

At the September 15, 2026 hearing on the Treasury Secretary's annual testimony, Rep. Ayanna Pressley questioned Scott Bessent. She asked how long Donald Trump said the Iran war would last. 'I don't recall,' he said. She answered for him: 'four to five weeks.' When she said gas prices were up 52% since the war started, he replied, 'From what to what?' and called it 'not a good number.'

The video checks the record. Trump said 'four to five weeks' on March 1 and again on March 2, then declared 'Total and complete victory. 100%.' in April. On October 8 he said the blockade 'will remain in full force.' The government's weekly gas price went from $2.937 the week before the war to $4.478 the week after the hearing, up about 52%. My read: 'I don't recall' is how he avoids owning the war's cost.
