A Ukrainian refugee’s last moments were captured on camera before she was stabbed to death on a Charlotte light rail train last month. New footage from the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) shows 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska on the Lynx Blue line just after 9:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22. LiveNOW’s Mike Pache is sharing more details from the story and about Zarutska, who had previously fled war-torn Ukraine."We need more cops on the beat to keep people safe. That’s why my budget calls for more funding to hire more well-trained police officers," North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein wrote on social media. "I call upon the legislature to pass my law enforcement recruitment and retention package to address vacancies in our state and local agencies so they can stop these horrific crimes and hold violent criminals accountable."
Rep. Brenden Jones wrote in a social media post that, "Violent criminals commit crimes with impunity, while families live in fear."
“I have seen the horrific video of a beautiful, young Ukrainian refugee, who came to America to escape the vicious War in Ukraine, and was innocently riding the Metro in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was brutally ambushed by a mentally deranged lunatic,” President Donald Trump said on social media.
