Maddalena #Loy, ai microfoni di Un Giorno Speciale, ha sottolineato come la vicenda rifletta un meccanismo già visto in passato: la cosiddetta character assassination, lo stesso che per decenni ha accompagnato la figura di Silvio #Berlusconi. Al centro non c’è solo l’omicidio, ma la costruzione di un’immagine pubblica distorta, utile a giustificare reazioni estreme e a orientare l’opinione pubblica.
La polemica si è accesa dopo le parole del matematico Piergiorgio #Odifreddi, che in tv ha distinto tra “morti di serie A” e “morti di serie B”, sostenendo che Kirk non fosse paragonabile a figure come Martin Luther King. Per Loy, questo atteggiamento rappresenta innanzitutto "una mancanza di pietas": ridurre l’uccisione di un giovane a un dettaglio trascurabile significa oltrepassare la soglia del confronto politico e negare un principio basilare di umanità.
