Kedatangan Shoigu ini diterima langsung oleh Presiden Prabowo Subianto yang didampingi Menteri Pertahanan Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
Saat Shoigu tiba di istana, Panglima TNI Jenderal Agus Subiyanto dan Menteri Sekretaris Negara (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi.
Prabowo sendiri sempat menanyakan kabar Presiden Rusia Vladimir Putin terhadap Shoigu.
Dalam pernyataannya, Prabowo menyampaikan terima kasih pada Shoigu yang telah mengunjunginya.
Lebih lanjut Prabowo berseloroh bahwa kunjungan Shoigu terlalu singkat padahal dirinya ingin membuatkan jamuan.
Keduanya kemudian menggelar pertemuan tertutup bersama pejabat lainnya.
Untuk diketahui, sekutu Putin tersebut mengunjungi Indonesia dan Malaysia hingga 28 Februari 2025.
Kunjungan Sergei bertujuan untuk membahas isu-isu terkini hubungan bilateral termasuk keamanan dan pertahanan.
Selain itu juga pengembangan kerja sama di bidang-bidang lain yang jadi kepentingan.
Sebelum ke Istana Merdeka, Shoigu sempat berkunjung lebih dulu ke Kementerian Pertahanan.
