"È normale ci siano differenze, ma sono più gravi quelle nella maggioranza che guida oggi la politica estera. Sul riarmo hanno sempre avuto tre posizioni distinte. Abbiamo chiesto a Meloni di uscire dalle ambiguità e sostenere l’integrazione europea, unica via per contare nel mondo e difendere multilateralismo e diritto internazionale, minacciati dai suoi alleati nazionalisti. Abbiamo votato contro l’aumento della spesa militare al 5%, che vale 87 miliardi in più ogni anno e mette a rischio lo Stato sociale. Meloni dice “se vuoi la pace prepara la guerra”, noi rispondiamo: se vuoi la pace, prepara la pace" così la segretaria del Pd Elly Schlein, a margine della sua visita alla Festa dell'Unità a Roma.
