Making Astronomy Accessible: Highlights from the ESSS 2025 Teacher Training Programme 🔭
We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the 3rd Edition of the 2025 Teacher Training Programme! 🎓✨Organized by the Ethiopian Space Science Society (ESSS) in collaboration with the Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI), this initiative was made possible through funding from the International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE).
This year's programme focused heavily on inclusivity and innovation in the classroom, ensuring that the wonders of the universe are accessible to everyone, including students with visual and hearing impairments.
🌟 Key Highlights of the Training:
Innovative Teaching: Introduction of the CosMonic: Sonification Project and Astroaccesible inclusive outreach initiatives.
Hands-On Science: Participants engaged in experiments adapted from the Network for Astronomy School Education (NASE).
Tactile Learning: Utilization of 3D-printed models of the Sun, night sky, and constellations (in collaboration with Enzirt Engineering and SSGI-ESKC).
