Down the Rabbit Hole: The Need for a Change in Perception | Doah Kim | TEDxPangyo Youth
This talk examines the art of failure and how embracing it allows oneself to have a radical change in perception. In "Down the Rabbit Hole," I share my journey of being diagnosed with Tuberculosis and how it led me to start a youth educational program called Deborah Academy. Through an unexpected turn, I share my experience of discovering new dimensions of success and a new sense of comfort. This talk reflects on how change, no matter how negative it may seem, can be a powerful catalyst for freedom and that starting over is sometimes the quickest path to transformation. Doah Kim is a sophomore high school student at an international school in Korea. She is a student, essayist, and club leader who seeks to expand the traditional definition of success, learning through trial and error across borders. She is a John Locke Institute Ambassador, a finalist in global essay competitions, and has participated in multiple leadership programs to support youth by sharing her own experiences. She also mentors younger students through global mission trips and speaking events. Through her talk, she seeks to share how falling behind actually helped her move forward, and how failure, not perfection, is the key to finding one’s own direction in life.
