ROMA (ITALPRESS) - "Nella serata di lunedì ho partecipato al vertice di Berlino, insieme al Presidente Zelensky, a diversi colleghi europei, e ai negoziatori americani Steve Witkoff e Jared Kushner, in un clima costruttivo e unitario che vale la pena di sottolineare. Ne è scaturita una dichiarazione finale dei leader europei che riprende tutte le priorità che l’Italia ha sostenuto in questi mesi difficili, e che ho ribadito anche martedì scorso accogliendo a Roma il Presidente Zelensky". Così il presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, nel corso delle comunicazioni alla Camera in vista del Consiglio europeo del 18 e 19 dicembre."Il cammino verso la pace, dal nostro punto di vista, non può prescindere da quattro fattori fondamentali - ha aggiunto -: lo stretto legame tra Europa e Stati Uniti, che non sono competitor in questa vicenda, atteso che condividono lo stesso obiettivo, ma hanno sicuramente angoli di visuale non sovrapponibili, dati soprattutto dalla loro differente posizione geografica. Il rafforzamento della posizione negoziale ucraina, che si ottiene soprattutto mantenendo chiaro che non intendiamo abbandonare l’Ucraina al suo destino nella fase più delicata degli ultimi anni. La tutela degli interessi dell’Europa, che per il sostegno garantito dall’inizio del conflitto, e per i rischi che correrebbe se la Russia ne uscisse rafforzata, non possono essere ignorati e il mantenimento della pressione sulla Russia, ovvero la nostra capacità di costruire deterrenza, di rendere cioè la guerra non vantaggiosa per Mosca".
