BMKG Ungkap Penyebab Gempa M 6,5 yang Guncang Sumenep & Rusak Rumah Warga: Aktivitas Sesar Aktif

Menurut keterangan Direktur Gempabumi dan Tsunami BMKG, Daryono, terjadinya gempa dipicu oleh aktivitas sesar aktif bawah laut.
Episenter gempa berada di laut, sekira 58 kilometer (km) tenggara Sumenep dengan kedalaman 12 km.
Daryono mengungkap bahwa guncangan ini termasuk jenis gempa dangkal.
Hasil mekaniseme sumber menunjukkan bahwa, pergerakan naik atau thrust fault menjadi penyebab utama terjadinya guncangan hebat.
Daryono menyebut bahwa guncangan paling dahsyat terjadi di Pulau Sapudi, dengan intensitas V-VI MMI.
Sementara itu untuk wilayah Sumenep, Pamekasan, dan Surabaya merasakan getaran pada skala III-IV MMI.
Gempa ini juga turut dirasakan di sejumlah daerah lain seperti Denpasar, Banyuwangi hingga Lombok, namun dengan getaran yang lebih lemah.
Menurut data BMKG, gempa ini tidak memiliki potensi terjadinya tsunami meskipun menyebabkan sejumlah kerusakan pada rumah, masjid hingga fasilitas umum.
