Зеландия простирается на миллионы квадратных миль и примерно на 94% находится под водой; лишь некоторые её части, включая Новую Зеландию и Новую Каледонию, возвышаются над уровнем моря. Десятилетиями геологи изучали её необычные породы, древнюю континентальную кору и геологические границы, чтобы понять, как этот колоссальный регион отделился от суперконтинента Гондвана. В 2023 году исследователи достигли важной вехи, составив геологическую карту подводной части континента и раскрыв новые подробности о его строении и древнем прошлом.
