Delhi Protest LIVE: 700+ Detained In Delhi As Opposition Demands CEC’s Resignation
More than 700 protesters, including former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leaders, are detained in Delhi during demonstrations demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Political parties, activists and student organisations gather over the Election Commission’s handling of electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).Delhi Police had denied permission for the proposed Jantar Mantar gathering and deployed additional personnel and barricades across the area. Protests are also taking place in Mumbai, where the Cockroach Janta Party has announced a “Jail Bharo Andolan” at Shivaji Park. The Election Commission has maintained that its three-member panel took decisions on SIR unanimously.
