Regulasi itu diakui Prof Mahfud sudah didesak Presiden ke-7 Joko Widodo sejak 2018.
Namun selalu mandek di DPR dan tidak dilanjutkan.
Melalui kanal YouTube-nya, Kamis (4/9/2025), Mahfud mengungkapkan bahwa Jokowi sebenarnya telah berupaya keras mendorong agar RUU tersebut segera dibahas.
Sayangnya, berbagai upaya itu selalu terhalang jalan buntu di parlemen.
Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), merespons tuntutan "17+8" yang disuarakan massa seusai aksi demo pada Agustus lalu.
Menurut AHY, semua aspirasi masyarakat harus direspons melalui dialog terbuka antara pemerintah, DPR, dan publik.

Menurut AHY, dengan dialog terbuka nantinya akan ada solusi bersama.
āSaya sudah membaca satu per satu tuntutan 17+8 yang disampaikan oleh berbagai kalangan, terutama mereka yang turun ke jalan. Ada sejumlah isu yang dianggap mendesak, dan saya menyikapinya dengan terbuka,ā ujar AHY.
AHY mengaku sudah membaca tuntutan 17+8 secara rinci.
Menurut AHY, ada sejumlah isu yang dianggap mendesak, atas hal itu ia akan menyikapinya secara terbuka.
Terkini, AHY mengapresiasi langkah DPR dan pemerintah yang membuka ruang komunikasi untuk menampung aspirasi masyarakat.
āJika ada hal-hal yang perlu segera dibahas bersama, saya sangat mendukung. Saya mengapresiasi dialog-dialog yang sudah mulai dibuka oleh DPR RI dan pemerintah,ā katanya.
Menurutnya, sikap tersebut sejalan dengan peran dan komitmennya sebagai Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat.
