He stated that the focus of the discussions is the Indo-Pacific region. S. Jaishankar listed global issues to address, including supply chain resilience, connectivity choke points, and gaps in critical infrastructure. He noted that the Indo-Pacific requires enhanced strategic confidence and maritime security, stating, "The region must remain a driver of global growth and stability." Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong spoke about the role of the Quad in shaping the Indo-Pacific. She mentioned the deteriorating strategic environment and acute economic stress in the region. Penny Wong stated, "We all share a vision for the Indo-Pacific," and reiterated Australia's commitment to a free, open, and peaceful region. She also listed the Quad's past cooperation on natural disasters, undersea cables, and critical minerals. United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke on the Quad's progress over the past year. He stated that the grouping has transitioned from discussing problems to taking concrete actions. Marco Rubio listed the unique capabilities of the four nations in addressing global challenges like humanitarian response, energy security, and freedom of navigation.
