This is every boss in the game being done on the max difficulty with no damage taken. While I had a brilliant time with the game itself, I'll definitely say it's not built for no damage fights. The bosses were enjoyable as normal fights, but not the highlight of the game. I'd consider it similar to the modern DOOM games, where the overall combat and gameplay is very fun, and the bosses are decent but not the main focus.
As for the no damage approach here, there's a lot of instances of unavoidable damage from bosses that have weapons where it's simply down to chance if you get hit or not. In encounters where there's a number of enemies that spawn in that can shoot at you, the only approach is to defeat them as they're spawning in so they don't have a chance of firing at you.
As a result, some of the fights had to be either defeated quicker than I'd normally like, or where I just had to spawn trap enemy spawn points to avoid them instantly firing and hitting you with unavoidable shots. There's also two bosses that I was unhappy with the end result, but I figured considering the nature the encounters how I handled them would be fine.
The first one being Judge Fatale. That one endlessly spawns shooting enemies alongside melee enemies, and as soon as the shooting enemies spawn they can fire at you. It's near impossible to manage properly damaging the boss while handling those at the same time, and completely up to chance if you get hit. So I went on top and cheesed the boss to avoid it.
The final boss I wasn't too happy with the end result. It has a checkpoint in the middle of the fight, and normally if a boss has a checkpoint I'll still do the entire fight from the very beginning in one take. The first phase lasts about 5-6 minutes on a good run, but the second phase is a nightmare for no damage, and pretty much impossible to be consistent with how it currently is. While you're still animation locked to the cutscene the enemies will spawn, one of which can fire bullets at you and it can hit you before you're able to do anything. The entire second phase then has you in a circle with enemies that have the ability to fire at you the instant they appear, and if you're unlucky they can spawn behind or to the side before you're even able to see or react to them. As such, I think it was fair to split the fight into the two phases here for no damage, as leaving it up to complete chance on a phase transition and fight and needing to go back at least 6 minutes each time I don't think is reasonable.
Even with doing so, the entire second phase is a complete chance for no damage, and a nightmare to manage even from the checkpoint. You can even see that as soon as the phase starts, I have to immediately hold the menu open to allow the enemies to properly spawn in and stop them from firing until I can see them, and then chance the beginning of the fight by hoping it somehow misses me.
Despite those two bosses, I still really enjoyed the game (as I mentioned in my written review here: https://youtu.be/JV5adv8DKlM ). As normal fights they're completely fine and manageable, but you can tell they're not built for no damage, which isn't a problem at all.
